No. It was basically matching stubbornness with stubbornness, since the task gave a range of monetary amounts the Tarutarus were willing to offer. It wasn't meant as a goading measure, but as proof that the money would be better spent elsewhere.
And as a means to jump to suggest moving to Esdham.
Kind of like when with your friends.
How about I give you $1 to do [this]. No. Two dollars? No. How about three? No. Sheesh. Fine. Have it your way.
That sort of scenario. But like I said, don't worry about it. I was just trying to put a little "struggle" into it, that's all.
It'd probably be a good idea (Rialynn would suggest) to appeal to their pride with flattery. It's hard to tell without getting a good gauge of their reactions and personality, but if they seem to respond well to having their egos stroked about how much better they could make Esdham become, either having new attractions that bring hope and fun to the people, or restoring an old gem that had lost its luster, that might be a good angle to pursue.
I wouldn't be surprised that they have egos to be stroked...LOL
So, we'll go with that?
Went for their egos while suggesting they move to Esdham? Especially if they suggest just how much more money they'll make by people going there to see the "new" Esdham.
